Would Having an Engagement Ring With a Visibly Flawed Diamond Bother You? (You Might Change Your Mind When You See This Vintage Ring!)

Would you love your engagement ring if it was less than perfect?

I was clicking through vintage rings the Lang Antique & Estate Jewelry site yesterday when I found this stunning engagement ring—which has a pretty shocking price tag!

The ring features a 1.90 carat center stone, plus 32 smaller diamonds and six tiny synthetic sapphires (on the sides of the setting—click here to see the full listing). It's listed at $9,750, which is of course a lot of money, but it's actually cheap for a center stone of that size. By comparison, the cheapest 1.90 carat round diamond on Blue Nile—my barometer of reasonable prices—right now is $14,595. (The stone in the ring is European cut, which is a little different, but it's roughly the same shape.)

The vintage ring is so comparatively inexpensive—the jeweler calls it "a big bargain"!—because the center stone has white flaws that are visible to the naked eye. When I read that, I decided I could totally see the imperfections. Can you spot them? I think they're around 4 o'clock. Still, even though this ring is flawed, it's pretty drop-dead gorgeous!

If your guy proposed with an engagement ring that featured a flawed diamond, would that bother you? Of course it's not "all about the ring"—we know, we know!—but if you got to pick, would you want a bigger diamond with visible flaws or something smaller that looked perfect to the naked eye?

I think I'd have to see the ring in person, but from what I can see in these pics, I'd have NO problem wearing this ring! It looks like it would sparkle tons!
