Considering DIY Wedding Makeup? Don't Attempt It Without These 3 Eye Makeup Tricks!

I wasn't quite brave enough to do my own wedding makeup--but had I been, you can be sure I'd have employed these three really genius and goof-proof eye makeup tricks that we've learned over at Girls in the Beauty Department.

1. Use Scotch tape as a stencil for perfect cat-eye liner. (Click the link for full how-to details.) This genius trick ensures you get the perfect classic eyeliner swoop and that your angles are symmetrical on both sides and worthy of all those close-up portraits you'll be taking.

2. Look down into a mirror when applying fake lashes. Put a mirror on a table and gaze into it, rather than staring straight ahead into the bathroom mirror--this way, you can get a much better view of what you're doing and more easily maneuver the falsies into your lash line (and they'll be less likely to slip before the glue takes).

3. Use a two-brush technique for perfect smoky lids. With one brush, press dark eyeshadow over your eyeliner, then with a clean brush, drag some of that shadow outward and blend over your lid. (Click the link for more details.) This'll help keep you from overdoing the shadow and going unintentionally goth on your wedding day.
